It is simple and easy to purchase and download through the Internet and it is exactly like purchasing any other product. College campus bookstores have continuously put students under pressure by selling textbooks at prices of the average student. According to studies, a required new course textbook can cost between $100 and $200 in the campus bookstores. Most look for cheaper alternatives in other bookstores while some decide to borrow their needed textbooks from colleagues.
Studies conducted by the California Public Interest Research Group in 59 superior educational facilities across the country that electronic college textbooks prices have increased. Very few parties are currently trying to find efficient solutions to the problem and are expected to become even more acute in the near future. Consider the fact that the average cost of college textbooks is estimated at $900 a year per student.
Today’s expensive electronic college textbooks represent many different aspects. The main reason why college textbook prices have rocketed because it is poor competition on the market. Most college bookstores continue to hold the monopoly over the market and the costs of new college textbooks are expected to grow while at present there are many competitive resources that offer both new and used textbooks for affordable prices.
The unaffordable prices of electronic college textbooks are primarily the consequence often unneeded updates but also high production costs. An effective solution to the problem would be to completely eliminate the costs of ink and paper by replacing electronic study materials. In electronic format, the colleges textbooks will not only be cheaper but will also include interactive content.
Electronic textbooks are cheaper than traditional textbooks because of the lack of printing costs and even though you’ll pay less for an e-textbook at but you’ll never be able to sell it back. Most students are selling their used college textbooks online and are getting back most of what they paid for new and end up paying more for the electronic texts.
Most states the legislatures are trying to get public schools to make electronic college textbooks available into offering more textbooks in an electronic format. Those behind this have seen many students are likely to pay in a semester for textbooks and are making the assumption that electronic versions of the books could save students hundreds dollars.
